MARIA PRINZ, Pianist
Maria Prinz, pianist, was born in Bulgaria and studied in Berlin with Prof. Rudolf Dunckel, in Vienna with Prof. Jörg Demus, and in Paris with Prof. Ivonne Lefébure. Her father was the famous Bulgarian conductor and composer Konstantin Iliev.
Since 1987, Maria Prinz is on the faculty at the University of Music and Performing Art in Vienna. She has concertized as soloist in the United States, Austria, Italy, Germany, Schwitzerland, Japan, Belgium and Bulgaria. Mrs. Prinz performed the Bulgarian première of "Oiseaux exotiques" by Olivier Messiaen in 2001. Her chamber music performances include concerts with members of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in such as appearances at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan in 2005 and 2008 among other prominent venues. Mrs. Prinz performed at the Salzburg Festival with Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - Riccardo Muti conducting.
During the Mozart’s 250th year anniversary (2006) she appears on recitals under the title Mozart and His Contemporaries in Vienna, Sofia, Prague, Bloomington and Los Angeles.
Other highlights in the same year of Mrs. Prinz performances include the Danube Festival in Ulm (Germany), the opening of the 2006/2007 season of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra with Sir Neville Marriner, conducting the Mozart’s piano concerto KV 488, as well other works.
In March 2008 she performed at the festival March Music Days in Russe (Bulgaria) - Beethoven – 1st piano concerto also under the direction of Sir Neville Marriner.
She recorded recently Haydn and Mozart piano concertos on Gega New (GD233), as well as Brahms - sonatas for clarinet and piano with Alfred Prinz (Fontec) and Puccini - songs with Krassimira Stoyanova (GD300). Maria Prinz is presented by Bulgarian Virtuosi Artists.
